Powell and Whiten join creative forces in this collaborative exhibition which combines Powell's sculptural totems and Whiten's evocative sketches, as well as collaborative dream drawings.
Based in Dorset, Powell creates sculptures informed by her interest in psychology. In both her work and her creative process, she embraces metaphors, myth and symbolic language. She works intuitively and intellectually, in order to identify archetypes and discern key associations from her objects.
In parallel, Whiten had been exploring a new way of working, by producing intuitive drawings based on the deeply personal and searching conversations that arise in Tarot readings. As an experimental collaboration for this exhibition, Whiten made intuitive drawings as Powell read extracts from her dream journal.
